With reference to Despatch No 52 of May 27th from Mr. Secretary Gladstone, in which it is stated that arrangements had been made by the Admiralty for depaying

the charges of a criminal prosecution for libel instituted at the desire of Rear Admiral Sir Thomas Cochrane, I have the honor to state that I deemed it my duty to apply. to Sir Thomas Cochrane for the amount of £75 definged from the Colonial Treasury, N.) and bey to enclose a copy of the application,
